South Africa's head coach Shukri Conrad highlighted the need for improved application from his batters in the upcoming Test in Gqeberha. The team faced a 214-run defeat by Australia in the first match, where key players like Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi were absent. Despite early success with the ball, South Africa struggled to capitalize on opportunities, with batters failing to reach fifty in the second innings.

Conrad noted the importance of maintaining the approach that has proven effective while making necessary adjustments. The second Test, starting on 18 October, will see South Africa aim to build on their experience and address batting inconsistencies. Australia's strong performance, including a 190 from Matt Renshaw, left them with a significant lead, which they extended in the following innings.
