India overcame a strong Zimbabwean bowling performance to take a 1-0 lead in the T20I series. Niki Prasad, who previously led India to an ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup title, contributed significantly in the win. After India struggled at 19/4, Prasad partnered with Deepti Sharma to guide the team to victory in the 16th over.

Zimbabwe's early efforts included Beloved Biza being dismissed in the first over, while Kelis Ndhlovu and Modester Mupachikwa provided stability. Sharne Mayers' 43 helped Zimbabwe reach 114/5, but India's response was crucial in securing the win. Nandani Sharma and Sree Charani restricted the scoring during the innings.
