Leicestershire's Points Reinstated but Division One Status Uncertain

WicketPulse · 2026-10-02 · Original automated news brief

Leicestershire have had eight points restored to their County Championship tally, raising their total from 111 to 119. The adjustment follows a review of the original 27-point deduction imposed for pitch regulation breaches during a match against Glamorgan in August. The sanction was initially announced on 16 September.

The Cricket Regulator questioned whether the 19-point penalty under playing conditions was properly considered in the original decision. Despite the points return, the club's position in Division One remains uncertain. The revised penalty does not guarantee retention of their top-tier status.
