Fleming Advocates for English Coach for England Team

Stephen Fleming, the newly appointed England Test head coach, has called for the national team to be guided by someone from England. Fleming, a New Zealander, took charge in July and is set to lead his first series in South Africa in December. His comments come as only two Englishmen have held the position since 1999.

Since 1999, only Peter Moores and Chris Silverwood have been England's Test coaches. Fleming's appointment continues a trend of overseas coaches leading the team. He has not specified who should take the role but emphasized the need for an English leader.
