Anderson's Lancashire Contract Not Renewed

James Anderson, England's all-time leading Test wicket-taker with 704 wickets, may be nearing the end of his career after Lancashire opted not to renew his contract. The 44-year-old continued playing with the county side following his international retirement in 2024. Last season, he captained Lancashire in the County Championship, but the team struggled, finishing near the bottom of Division Two.

The decision comes as Anderson's playing career with Lancashire appears to be concluding. His continued involvement with the club after stepping down from international cricket highlighted his commitment to county cricket. The Red Rose's poor performance last season may have influenced the club's choice not to extend his contract.
